One of the clearest demonstrations of the Mussett Racing philosophy is the MR-1500T — a compact, turbocharged race engine developed for lightweight, high-performance motorsport applications.
Designed around a highly modified Suzuki Hayabusa cylinder head and barrels, the bespoke 1489cc four-cylinder engine was engineered to combine exceptional power with an extremely compact and lightweight package.

With a bespoke steel crankshaft, rods and pistons, dry-sump lubrication and turbocharged induction, the MR-1500T demonstrated what can be achieved when motorsport design and precision engineering are developed together from the outset.

Its combination of compact dimensions, low weight and high output made it particularly suitable for lightweight competition vehicles where conventional automotive engines can introduce significant additional size and mass.
The engine was also engineered to operate as a semi-stressed installation, allowing chassis loads to be transmitted through the engine structure and helping reduce the need for additional supporting structure within suitable applications.
PROVEN ON TRACK
The MR-1500T went on from development to competition use, powering the GPR Zeus Challenger Evo to a lap record at the MSV Bedford West circuit and later another Bedford West lap record, while the MR1500T-powered Zeus Challenger Evo 2 achieved best in class in the Excool OSS Championship at Silverstone in 2016.
Those results remain an important part of the Mussett Racing story — demonstrating that the project was about far more than theoretical performance.
